Rising Actions
Colton began to hint about possible events that happened when he was in surgery. His family knew he was in the hospital room the whole time and didn't go anywhere during the surgery. The surgery was considered a success. Colton told his parents that they had to pay the doctor who operated on him because that was why he is still alive. Colton began to talk about meeting John the Baptist, talking with Jesus, and seeing his historic wounds. Colton told his dad that he died during surgery, went to Heaven, and came back to answer his dad's prayers to God. Colton continued to give facts to his parents about Heaven when he was asked about it. He claimed that Heaven was never dark because God and Jesus light it up all the time. He told his parents that Jesus loves his children numerous times. They finally told Colton that they realize how much Jesus loves his children. Colton let his dad know that he isn't afraid to die because he would rather be in Heaven.
Falling Actions
Colton visited a man on his death bed with his father to pray for him. While they were there, Colton told the man that everything will be perfectly fine because the first person he will see is Jesus. Colton also told his dad that nobody was old in Heaven. After Colton's parents recognized that Colton went to Heaven during his surgery and came back, Colby Burpo, Colton's new brother, was born in October of 2004. Ali, the babysitter, heard about Colton's visit and heard of his miscarried sister. Ali was deeply touched by the remarkable story. The Burpo's began to share their experience with others because of how much Ali was moved. They changed many listener's minds of Heaven being real. They were asked many questions after each talk. After one talk, the Burpo's were told of Akaine and looked up the picture that she drew of Jesus. This was the only picture that Colton claimed was accurate.
